AFTER THE MONTH FROM HELL.....

Hope is 9 weeks old now and the image of her daddy, she is such a good baby and we adore our little miracle.

November challenge

some of my Paper Doll friends have sent me their cards for the challenge I set for this month and here they are....

 

Firstly Kerry decided to use

 

A background from her part done box.
 A topper from her part done box.
Buttons.
Ribbon.
A stamp she'd never used before.

 

and this is the result....

you cannot see it very well in the photo but their is some subtle stamping added to the background card (think you can just make it out in the left hand top corner - looks very classy.

a bit of this and some of that...

.... although awol from here I have been making a few things in my crafty room.  Seem to be into boxes and bags at the moment, so here are a few that I made with my Ultimate Pro....

firstly three bags....

 

 



 

then I started on boxes,  you can't really see the design on the top of this one in this picture but...

 

 

it comes across better in this picture - always handy to have a masculine little box ready to pop a little gift in for the men in your life....

 

I really enjoyed making this heart box and there will be many more coming off the production line shortly.....

 

finally a little wedgewood box...

 

I also wanted to make a special card for a friend who became a great grandmother this week (I still say impossible, she is much too young) and although this isn't the 'normal' style of baby card I wanted to incorporate the baby's name - Poppy - so used my all time favourite poppy stamp.



Less in more, but not all the time.

I wanted to set another challenge for some of my Paper Doll friends and decided to go away from my normal less is more style to a really OTT, throw everything at the card style.  I rummaged through my stash and selected 5 random items..

I worked out how I wanted to use each of the items before I really decided how I wanted this card to look, then I simply had to rummage through my stash again and found these 3 toppers which went so well with the colours and completed the look I was after.  For once More is definately More.

A wall plaque made for baby Hope.

 

 

I have been asked how I made this.... so here goes.... The plaque is of a thin plywood blank with the design printed on and available from Hobbycraft - I dont know how much it cost as my d-i-l bought it but I would think around £1.50.  They also have it with other Christmas type words on (aren't we fortunate our granddaughter was called Hope) and the only snag was the holly decorations on the top and bottom.  Painting it was a little tense as I didn't want to go over any of the blank outlines but slowly slowly was the answer.  The pink is just ordinary pink emulsion paint but the other colours are Twinkling H2o's.  Once painted I varnished it and covered the holly bits with die cuts leaves and paper flowers.  I punched a hole in the bottom corner and threaded two silver charms on.  The string hanger was already on the plaque and I quite liked the rustic look so left it.  Hope that helps.

A Challenge

another of my favourite things is the Craft Forum I host and from time to time we join together in a challenge.  The current challenge is to make a card using only one colour (as many tones of that colour as you like).  I am very into my single colour cards at the moment and here is my challenge card and those I have so far received from my crafty friends.

A few books...

I am stuck in the world of Memory Books at the moment, I so enjoy making these pretty little books from boring blank pieces of card/wood.

 

This first one in blues and greens is for me, I will add photos of Grace and Mya to it.

 

 

 

 

I then started to experiment with my cuttlebug and some spellbinders and made these pretty shaped pages from cardboard.  It will make a handy little gift when we go visiting... 

 

 

for this one I used some brown parcel tags, again a little gift for when visiting and you don't know what to take your hostess.....

 

this Baby book is also for me and is being filled with pictures of our latest addition to the family, Hope.

 

 

 

 

 

I have made this book for my cousin's 80th birthday next month and left spaces for her to add photos from the celebrations... 

 

 

 

and this book is for Hope's great grandmother's 80th birthday next month and I have added photos of Hope to the book for her...

 

 

 and so ends my book making for the moment.
